A typical system consists of video cameras, a digital video recorder, and a connection to the internet. This enables you to view your business or home from everywhere via the World Wide Web. |

Depending on the application
cameras are available for indoor and outdoor, wired and wireless, color
and B&W, covert and visible, for day and night with infrared illumination.
Each camera can be programmed to generate an alarm if motion is detected within a predetermined field of view.
This alarm can automatically start recording a video of the area with detected motion. It can also activate an external alarm (siren, light, etc.) and it can send an email with the video footage included as an attachment or upload the video via FTP to a server (for security reasons).
Recording can also be based on time (for example recordings can be made everyday from 7 to 8 am) or an external alarm sensor (pyroelectric motion sensor, etc.)
Since the video is recorded on hard drive, not a tape, it can be searched fast based on event or time. It can be viewed locally or via the Internet.
